ANNIVERSARIES
John and Kathy Neirinckx
50th Anniversary
John and Kathy Neirinckx, of Coeur d'Alene, will be celebrating 50 years of marriage on Jan. 25, 2014. They were married in Milwaukee, Wis., after having met at Marquette University.
They moved to Grangeville in 1965 where John started a career with the U.S. Forest Service. The Forest Service took them to California in 1970, but they returned to Idaho in 1980 and settled in Coeur d'Alene. John retired from the Forest Service in 1999. Kathy worked for Kootenai Memorial Hospital as a Medical Technologist/Phlebotomist, retiring in 2005.
The couple have four children and eight grandchildren. John enjoys hunting and fishing and has been active with the Knights of Columbus. Kathy enjoys horseback riding, gardening and sings with the St. Thomas Sunday choir and the North Idaho College Cardinal Chorals. Together, they enjoy spending lots of time with their friends and growing family.
Rod and Connie Hazelton
50th Anniversary
Rod and Connie (Shaw) Hazelton, of Hayden, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on Jan. 17, 1964.
Their children are: son and wife, Mark and Charlene Hazelton of Spokane Valley; and daughter and husband, Jodie and Alan Smith of Hayden. They have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The couple will celebrate with their children at a later date in Hayden. Rod and Connie celebrated earlier by taking an Alaskan cruise.
EDUCATION
Jennifer Brooks, the daughter of Kenneth and Jana Brooks, of Coeur d'Alene, has been named to the Dean's List of Macalester College for academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2013-2014 school year.
A graduate of Lake City High School, Brooks was a sophomore at Macalester last fall.
BIRTHS
Leilani Skye Vega was born at 10:58 a.m. Dec. 9, 2013, to Julia L. Griffin and Ignacio H. Vega of Post Falls. She weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19 inches long. Sisters are Makayla, Karlee and Sophia.
Bridger Charles Landers was born at 3 p.m. Dec. 15, 2013, to Paige B. and Brian J. Landers of Coeur d'Alene. He weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Sister is Chloe Ann Landers. Maternal grandparents are Gayla Moseley, and Charles and Jeane Moseley. Paternal grandparents are Jim and Mary Ann Landers.
Dominick Jason Weems was born at 2:44 a.m. Jan. 8, 2014, to Jammie Goodrich Bruse and Jason Weems of Coeur d'Alene. He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces and was 21 inches long. Brother is Drake Weems. Sisters are Chloe Goodrich and Arianna Goodrich. Maternal grandparents are John and Ronda Bruse. Paternal grandparents are Dan and Tammara Downing.
MILITARY
Army National Guard Pfc. Savannah S. Martin has graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training (AIT).
Martin has served in the military for seven months. She is the daughter of Jenine Barasha of Spokane and Jack Martin of Coeur d'Alene. The airman is a 2012 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane.
