Basketball roundup: Martel, Evans lead Bigfork past Eureka

EUREKA — Isaac Martel and Christian Evans both tallied 15 points and Josh Sandry chipped in 12 to guide top-ranked and undefeated Bigfork to a 58-39 District 7B boys basketball victory over rival Eureka on Friday night.

Bigfork (12-0 overall, 6-0 league) held a commanding 34-16 advantage at the half.

Colton Henrie topped Eureka (6-5, 3-2) in scoring with 13 points.

LIBBY — Thompson Falls outscored Libby 33-18 in the middle two quarters to cash in for a nonconference victory.

Thompson Falls held a 20-17 edge after the first period. Libby outscored the visitors 19-12 in the final frame.

Trais Hoisington scored 26 points for Thompson Falls.

Collin Johnson hit 20 for Libby and Jared Winslow followed with 18.

WHITEFISH — Art Doorn scored 12 of his game- and season-high 25 points in the fourth quarter to push Whitefish past Polson in a Northwestern A battle.

Garrett Anderson scored seven points in the third quarter for Whitefish (6-6, 2-2). He finished with 11.

Whitefish held a 37-17 advantage on the boards.

Polson (2-8, 1-2) was led by Cedrick Smith’s 13 points.

LIBBY — Libby held the upper hand early, leading 14-5 after eight minutes of action and 20-15 at the half before Thompson Falls stormed back to claim the nonconference win.

Thompson Falls outscored Libby 21-11 in the second half.

Logan Beckman topped Class B Thompson Falls, and all scorers with 15 points.

Dayln Germany had a team-best 10 for Class A Libby.

WHITEFISH — Whitefish held a 10-9 lead after the opening quarter, but Polson gradually pulled away from there for the Northwestern A victory.

Polson led 23-20 at the half and closed with a 19-point fourth quarter.

Nichole Lake tossed in 13 points for Polson.

Allie Schulz and Simone Craft both had 13 to lead Whitefish.

BIGFORK — Bigfork rebounded from a Thursday setback to whip Eureka in a District 7B matchup.

Bigfork (9-3, 4-2) rolled out to a 24-9 lead and never looked back.

Marissa Hiza tallied 14 points for Bigfork. Tessa Robertson added 11 and Lana Berg 10.

Ashley Pacella had seven points for Eureka.

Dori Smith scored 11 of her game-high 13 points in the second half and totaled 11 rebounds as Stillwater Christian School (9-5) defeated the Glacier sophomores in a nonconference outing at SCS.

Melanie Gassaway led Glacier offensively with nine points.

McKenzie Hemp had 10 rebounds for Stillwater and led the Cougars in steals (nine) and assists (four).
