TWISP - After winning two of its three games last week, Columbia Basin Secondary School (CBSS) is back to .500 with a 6-6 record overall.

The Phoenix followed a 57-56 win against Bridgeport with a 54-18 blowout against Riverside Christian's JV squad. However, Columbia Basin's momentum was halted when the team squared of against the defending 2B state champion Liberty Bell Mountain Lions. CBSS battled against Liberty Bell, but was overmatched and fell to the Mountain Lions, 33-53.

Against Bridgeport, the Mustangs jumped out to an early 9-2 lead after hitting shots from the outside. CBSS head coach Bob McCaffery countered Bridgeport's outside shooting by switching from a zone to a man defense.

Kyrelle Buckley and Dan Sielaff led the Phoenix rally in the second quarter, scoring 13 of the team's 19 points. CBSS held on for the narrow win after a last second heave by the Mustangs missed.

Sielaff added to his strong week with 20 points against Riverside Christian. Chris Gonzalez also scored 11 points to help CBSS to the 36-point win.

Sielaff shouldered the offensive load once again for the Phoenix against Liberty Bell, scoring a team-high 16 points in the loss.

CBSS returns to Central Washington 1B play when the team faces Entiat Jan. 24.
