Police seek alleged booze thief at Resort

COEUR d'ALENE - A man with an active warrant for grand theft is believed to be responsible for the theft of several single-serving bottles of liquor from The Coeur d'Alene Resort.
A security guard at The Resort contacted police Wednesday night and said they located a man in a room who was not a registered guest of the hotel. The man, described in a Coeur d'Alene Police Department report as 5-foot-9 and wearing jeans and a zip-up hoodie, told the guard he was looking for his girlfriend.
The man was able to run away from the security guard and evaded pursuit by jumping over a fence at the McEuen Park construction area. In the room where the man was found, the guard discovered a purse and a wallet.
Throughout the evening, staff at The Resort noticed the self-service refrigerators in about 10 unoccupied rooms were missing bottles of liquor. The guard told police that someone was using gum and paper to keep the locks on the rooms open.
Earlier that evening, the guard told police he had encountered a woman who told him she was looking for her boyfriend and he thought she was the woman the suspect referenced.
It is believed that the couple is responsible for the theft of this liquor.
Law enforcement attempted to find the man at the residence listed on a theft of services ticket found in the wallet. However, according to a woman at the home, the male no longer lives there.
