WALLA WALLA - Big Bend Community College men's basketball ended its brief skid with a 94-86 win Saturday over Walla Walla.
The Runnin' Vikes are now in sole possession of third place in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges East (NWAACC) region.
Sophomore guard Brendan Westendorf scored a game-high 28 points while pulling down seven rebounds. After trailing 36-41 at half, Big Bend caught fire in the second half shooting 67.6 percent from the field.
Freshman forward Sean McDonnell and sophomore guard Victor Aguero added 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Big Bend continues its road trip Wednesday at Spokane,
Lady Vikings fall to Warriors
Big Bend saw three players score in double figures, but it wasn't enough for the team to overcome an early deficit.
After trailing by 10 at halftime, the Vikings fell to Walla Walla 71-82. The team is now 3-3 in the NWAACC East.
Sophomore guard Cristina Marlatt scored a team-high 18 points. Fellow sophomore Jessica Sorensen scored 16 points while grabbing four rebounds.
Freshman Sam Orme added 12 points off the bench.
Big Bend will look to end its skid Wednesday against Spokane. The Sasquatch are in the midst of a three-game losing streak.
