Baseball sign-ups
Sign-up forms are available for Cal Ripken Columbia Falls baseball for ages 5-12 at the Ruder and Glacier Gateway elementary schools and at the Columbia Falls Junior High School.
Softball sign-ups
The Columbia Falls Youth Softball Association is currently accepting registration for our spring softball season 2014. Registration forms can be found in the Columbia Falls Junior High School office and at Glacier Gateway and Ruder elementary schools or online at www.wildkatsoftball.org. CFYSA will hold sign-ups at the Columbia Falls firehall on Tuesday, Feb. 11, and Tuesday, March 11, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Sign-up deadline is March 11. Practices will begin the first week in April, and the season runs through the first week in June. For more information, visit online at www.wildkatsoftball.org.
Softball clinic
Columbia Falls Youth Softball Association will host a winter catching and pitching clinic on Mondays and Thursdays through the month of March. For more information or to sign up, call Kathy Price at 253-3775.
Pond hockey
The Kalispell Convention & Visitor Bureau will host what is expected to be the largest pond hockey tournament in the western United States at Foys Lake in Kalispell on Friday through Sunday, Feb. 21-23. More than 50 teams from across the U.S. and Canada are expected to show up, along with former professional hockey players. The tournament will offer divisions for every skill level, including Open, 30-plus, 40-plus, Legend, Women’s, Just for Fun Under 35 and Just for Fun 35-plus. Players must be at least 21 years of age to participate. Pond Hockey Classic will register teams through Feb. 7 at pondhockeyclassic.com/montana.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
