Two youths rescued from Blacktail area

A pair of youths were brought out of the Blacktail Mountain area by Flathead County Search and Rescue after the mother of one of the boys called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office early Tuesday morning to report they had not returned home. It turned out that they got their Jeep stuck, dug out, then stuck again. They were located with the use of a helicopter and search-and-rescue personnel were guided to them. The young men planned to return during daylight hours to retrieve the stuck vehicle.

A suspicious man was reported to the sheriff’s office after another man reported selling him firewood several times, receiving checks with the name Todd on them before the suspicious man tried to give him a check with a different first name on it. The real Todd later reported his checks had been stolen.

A concerned mother reported her daughter called her, saying she was arguing with her boyfriend who had been choking her. The mother also said her daughter was uncontrollable and had been on drugs.

A woman reported her boyfriend was assaulted at a U.S. 2 East lodge, suffering a gash on his face, although he didn’t need an ambulance. No one wanted charges to be pressed.

A Somers woman who is the subject of a restraining order filed by her mother shared her confusion that her mother keeps contacting her.

A strange man was reported standing in the middle of the westbound lane of U.S. 2 in Kila by a resident who was afraid the man was going to get run over.

Someone broke into a Hartt Hill Drive home and stole the resident’s deposit slips, later using the information to take money from her account.

A Mark Lane man was reported by his girlfriend after punching her in the face and taking her to the ground during an argument.

A motorist in a pickup truck was reported by a concerned driver whom the motorist passed at  60 miles per hour in a 35 zone.

A motorcyclist was reported after racing through a Fifth Avenue West intersection with no lights on at 9 p.m.

A fight was reported in a U.S. 2 East parking lot, where a woman was seen kicking a man “a lot.”

A pair of dangerous motorcyclists were reported speeding up and down Stoner Creek Road on a daily basis.

A checkbook was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Batavia Lane.


A concerned person at a West Idaho gas station contacted the Kalispell Police Department to report a man and women who seemed very drunk were trying to air up their tires. The person was afraid the couple were going to drive.

A woman was escorted to her car after locking up a First Avenue West salon business due to a drunk man who initially refused to leave.

A Second Avenue West North man reported someone stole prescription medication and a DVD player from his home.

A Greatview Drive man stopped by the police station to report his girlfriend had stolen his cellphone.

A woman was cited and released after stealing conditioner from a Third Avenue East North store.

A homeless man was reported sleeping inside the front entrance of a First Avenue West post office.

A suicidal man was transported for an evaluation after trying to shoot himself and missing.

The owner of a First Avenue East business caught a teenager in the upstairs storage area.

A motorist was reported swerving into oncoming traffic on Liberty Street.

Money was stolen from a First Street West store.


A wounded woman called the Whitefish Police Department once and her friend made a second call after she was scratched by either the nails or jewelry of her mother on Shady River Lane.

A suspicious motorist was reported in the area of Baker Avenue, where a resident reported the person had been driving around the neighborhood before stopping in the alley, leaving when the resident turned on her lights.

A Kalispell Avenue woman who called 911 told the dispatcher she didn’t mean to actually call, she was just using the possibility to threaten her boyfriend, with whom she was having an argument.


A larcenous lady was reported to the Columbia Falls Police Department by an employee of a Ninth Street West business who saw her slide the ill-gotten item up her sleeve.

A noisy Ninth Street West dog was brought inside for the rest of the night after a neighbor reported the animal had been barking incessantly for several hours.
