Margaret Elizabeth Harrison, 85

On Sunday, 26 January 2014, in Coeur d’Alene, ID, Margaret Elizabeth Blethyn Harrison, age 85, passed from this earthly existence to be reunited in Heaven with her Savior and loved ones gone before.
Margaret was born 2 October 1928, in London, England to Richard Henry Blethyn and Jessie Clara Martha Jones. She was the second of five daughters.
Margaret met her husband, Carter Duane Harrison, in London on VE day while he was serving in the Army Air Corps. They married in Emmett, Idaho, on January 18, 1947. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Cataldo, then to Coeur d’Alene in 1948.
Margaret was a member of, and actively involved in, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and family history work. She was well known for her fresh homemade bread. Later in life she attended North Idaho College and the University of Idaho, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education in 1976. She began working as a secretary for the LDS Church Education System in 1979, and retired after almost 20 years of service.
After retiring, Margaret became more active in her church service, interests, and hobbies. She was an avid reader and never stopped learning. She knitted innumerable hats for the LDS Humanitarian Aide services. She had an abiding faith in, and love for, her Savior Jesus Christ. She lived in the same house on Garden Avenue for 55 years. She spent the last two years of her life residing at Guardian Angels facility in Post Falls. Many thanks for the loving care tendered her there by the amazing staff.
Margaret is survived by her four children: Richard Harrison (Jeanne), Alan Harrison (Tatiana), and Theron Harrison, all of Coeur d’Alene; and Elizabeth Thurgood (Scott) of Post Falls; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and two sisters: Jean Hatter (Ken), and June Reeves, both of London, England. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and her husband.
Funeral services will be handled by Yates Funeral Home. There will be a viewing on Friday, January 31, 5-7 p.m., at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth Street, Coeur d’Alene, ID. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 1, 2014, 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2801 N. Fourth Street, Coeur d’Alene. There will be an additional viewing prior to the service. Burial will be Saturday, February 1, 2014, 1 p.m., at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
