Ryan Zinke, of Whitefish, a former state senator and a Republican candidate for the U.S. House, issued this response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address:

—————

Tonight, President Obama delivered a series of policy initiatives that fail to address the importance of job growth and sustaining economic development for Montanans.

The building of the Keystone XL Pipeline represents not only tens of thousands of jobs for Montana, but increased economic development up and down the United States.

Though he’s had more than five years to make a decision, he continues to sit on the sidelines while Montanans have increasingly needed these shovel-ready, high paying jobs.

It’s time for President Obama to end our dependence on foreign oil, promote free market growth, and put Montanans back to work.
