Basketball roundup: Libby girls crush Troy

LIBBY — Dayln Germany tallied 11 points and Taylor Quinn eight as Libby whipped Troy 34-14 in nonconference girls basketball play Friday night.

Class A Libby jumped on top 12-2 eight minutes into the contest and led 20-6 at the half.

Germany had seven points in the opening quarter and one of the team’s two 3s. Devon Gallaher had the other 3 and finished with seven points.

Both 3s came in the opening quarter.

Class B Troy was led by Caitlin Johnston’s five points.

Libby hosts Columbia Falls tonight.

BONNERS FERRY, Idaho — Bonners Ferry outscored Stillwater Christian School 7-3 in overtime to claim the nonconference victory.

Bonners Ferry, down 27-21 after three quarters, tallied 14 points in the final eight minutes while holding Stillwater Christian to eight to tie it and force the extra session.

Sarah Paolini had 13 points and Dori Smith 11 for Stillwater Christian.

FRENCHTOWN — It was all Frenchtown as the Broncs whipped Polson in a Northwestern A contest.

Frenchtown led 33-12 at the half and held Polson scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Frenchtown had three players in double-figure scoring — Vanessa Stavish, 15, Taylor Johnson, 12, and Kayla Blood, 11.

Skyla Krantz and Monika Frame both had five for Polson.

Frenchtown plays at Whitefish today in Northwestern A action. Polson is off until Thursday at Class B Eureka.

POLSON — In a wild fourth quarter, Frenchtown outscored Polson 31-25 to claim the Northwestern A victory.

Polson used a diamond and 1 on Frenchtown standout John Chapman to hold him scoreless through three periods. Chapman finally broke loose with 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Bridger Truett, who led Frenchtown and all scorers with 25 points, scored 15 in the final eight minutes.

Polson’s Cedrick Smith scored 15 of his team-high 21 points in the fourth quarter.

Frenchtown hosts Whitefish today in Northwestern A play.

Polson’s next action is Thursday at home with Class B Eureka.

LIBBY — Troy got a little breathing room on Libby in the second quarter and added some more distance in the fourth quarter to claim the nonconference victory.

Libby led 9-8 after the first period, but trailed 27-23 at the half.

Troy, up by four after three quarters, outscored Libby 21-13 in the last eight minutes.

Gabe Hickman had 25 points to lead Troy. Jared Winslow tallied 24 for Libby.
