Highway crashes climbed in 2013

SANDPOINT — The number of motor vehicle crashes in Bonner County climbed in 2013, according to the Idaho Transportation Department’s Office of Highway Safety annual report.

There was a total of 471 crashes in the county last year, compared to 456 in 2012. The number of fatal crashes, however, declined. There were 10 fatalities in 2012 and six in 2013.

The total number of crashes within the city of Sandpoint fell from 118 in 2012 to 86, according to the report.
