False alarm on pair of stolen bikes

Kalispell Police got a report Wednesday from a man who said that his two bikes were stolen off his vehicle at a location on U.S. 93 North, and in the process, the thief broke an entire bike rack off the vehicle. The man called back later and said never mind, he found his bikes.

There were multiple animal cruelty reports from around town related to dogs being left inside vehicles without enough ventilation.


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report regarding two men having a fist fight near the intersection of Montana 35 and U.S. 2 in Evergreen Wednesday. After they were done swinging at each other, the men got in their vehicles and drove off.

A person calling from East Evergreen Drive reported the theft of a 2000 Toyota Tundra with a white topper.

A woman requested help evicting a man who has been staying at a hotel on Montana 35 in Evergreen. The man hasn’t been paying, and when approached he became belligerent. As he was picking up his things, he said he would sue the responding deputy and the hotel.

There was a report of a wallet being stolen at a business on Montana 35 in Bigfork.

There was a report of two men in a pickup stealing two personal watercraft from a location near Reserve Drive.

A man calling from Lower Valley Road reported that his neighbor threatened to beat him up, and also threatened to get his shotgun. When questioned, the neighbor denied anything happened and the man who claimed to be threatened was not happy with the way officers handled the situation.

A woman calling from Shady Lane reported that she and her children were locked out of their home by her intoxicated boyfriend. She also said that the boyfriend pulled her hair and put his hands around her throat. The man was apparently arrested for partner-family member assault.


Whitefish Police arrested a man on warrants at a casino on U.S. 93 South Wednesday.

Early Thursday, just after 1 a.m., a person was arrested for drunk driving on Wisconsin Avenue following reports of a vehicle being driven erratically around town.


After a disturbance involving an armed man who was screaming at a woman at a location on Nucleus Avenue, Columbia Falls Police ended up arresting the man.


Flathead Electric Cooperative responded to scattered power outages that resulted from early Thursday thunderstorm activity.


The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and other Flathead area fire agencies responded to smoke reports from the morning lightning activity. The most significant incidents were a fire of less than a tenth of an acre in the Coon Hollow area near Kila, and another small fire near the House of Mystery north of Columbia Falls.
