Legion baseball: Mariners A drop Reps in title game

POLSON — Zeke Webster-Yaqui held the Helena Reps to five singles and helped his cause by going 3 for 4 and driving in two runs as Mission Valley Mariners A won the championship game 8-3 at the 4th of July Firecracker American Legion Baseball Tournament Sunday night.

Webster-Yaqui had seven strikeouts in going the distance.

He walked four batters.

Mission Valley had 13 hits. TJ Olson doubled twice while Bransen Krebs, Ryan Pablo and Alex Killian had one double each.

Olson, 2 for 3, drove in two runs.

Pablo also had two hits in four plate appearances.

Mission Valley led 4-2 after two innings and added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Ryan Arntson, 2 for 4, had an RBI for Helena.

POLSON — Carter Baughman allowed three hits and struck out six in five innings to guide the Missoula Pioneers to a 4th of July Tournament win over Mission Valley Mariners B.

Walter Wood went 2 for 4 and drove in a run for Mission Valley. He also had the team’s lone extra base hit — a double.

Ryan Nagle doubled, Baughman tripled and Rand Pritzkau homered for the Pioneers.

The victory advanced the Pioneers to the consolation game, where they lost to Kootenai Valley Rangers.

Kootenai Valley scored in every inning but the second. The Rangers tallied five runs in the fifth and four in the seventh.

Colton Henrie, 3 for 4, tripled, homered and drove in six runs for the Rangers.

Dalton Smith, 1 for 3, and James Dunn, 0 for 3, had three RBIs each for the victors.

Garrett McNeil had two hits for the Rangers in three trips to the plate.

POLSON — Libby scored first, three runs to lead off the contest, but Deer Lodge dominated the remainder of the way for a victory at the 4th of July Tournament.

Deer Lodge ripped 15 hits against four Libby hurlers.

Derek Walker had three hits for Deer Lodge while Logan Danforth, Jessee Vasquez, Logan Doiran and Kaehl Lowery had two each.

Oliver Grupenhoff went 3 for 3 for the Libby Loggers and drove in two runs.

Trace Tammero, 1 for 2, had two RBIs for the Loggers.

POLSON — Cranbrook’s Bandits (British Columbia) scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away from the Glacier Twins B at the 4th of July Tournament.

Glacier trailed 6-4 heading into the last half of the sixth.

Chris Park, 2 for 2, drove in a run for the Twins. Trevor Houston had the team’s other RBI.

Sean Hoerner doubled for Glacier.
