After all the fireworks shows in the valley last night, Montana Raceway Park provided the Twisted Tea and Jesco Marine and Power Sports Super Late Model 125. As the Bandoleros, Bombers, Hobby Stocks and Super Late Models participated in the Firecracker USA shootout, some qualifying records were put to the test, and an amazing performance in the main highlighted the festivities.

The Bandoleros class got to see a new face in the winner’s circle, with 9-year-old Race Sasser winning the trophy dash in his first-ever victory in the class.

The other big story of the night was Tyler Emond, who managed to win every race besides the trophy dash. Emond qualified with the fast time, won the heat race, and capped the night off with a first place finish in the main event.

In the Bomber class, Wes Miljies started the night off on fire, qualifying with the fast time, winning the trophy dash and the heat race. In the end, Troy Pilgram won the main event and Miljies finished third.

The Hobby stocks this year are some of the fastest and most competitive in the history of the class, with almost every race a photo finish. “Smilin” Matt Gollehon and Ricky “Bobby” Mitchell managed to have a perfect split, with Gollehon winning the trophy dash and the A heat race, and Mitchell shake ‘n’ baking his way to the fastest qualifying time and a main event victory. Ed Linn also came away with a victory in the B heat race.

The main event was the Super Late Model 125. This race is typically a highly regarded one to Super late drivers as it is the last chance to get their cars on the track before the biggest race of the year, the Coors Light Montana 200.

The night saw a show as spectacular as any. Alex Lessor won the last main event for the Super Late Models and to repeat in spectacular fashion, having the fast time in qualifying and winning his heat dash. Bodie Morton finished close behind, followed by Trevor Emond.
