SANDPOINT — It’s sometimes amazing to see how a few simple actions can ripple out to all corners of the earth.

Consider Sandpoint High School’s Honor Flight program participants, who have touched lives all the way in France with their D-Day memorial wreath project. The story has since been picked up by French news media, lending evidence to the notion that kindness knows no borders.

The effort was a collaboration between the classrooms of Sandpoint High School teacher John Nitcy and Christelle Zuccolotto, an English teacher from France. After Nitcy’s Honor Flight club prepared the memorial wreaths to ship over earlier this year, Zuccolotto’s class of about 40 students from Collège Elie Faure in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande laid the wreaths at key memorial locations to the D-Day assaults.
