UPDATE: The suspect in Tuesday's double homicide case in Post Falls is Angel Albertico Morales-Larranaga, 24. He is believed to have been living with the victims at the time of the alleged murders. Police believe he acted alone during the alleged incident. He is being held at the Kootenai County Jail. Two other children who live in the home are safe and have been placed into state custody.

POST FALLS - The bodies of a young girl and a woman in her 20s were discovered by investigators at the Tullamore Commons apartment complex in Post Falls Tuesday.

"The suspect showed up at the home of a family friend's house on 15th Street and talked to them about it," Haug said. "That's when she (the family friend) called us."Post Falls Police Department Chief Scot Haug confirmed that his department was treating the discovery of the bodies as a double homicide and added that a male, also in his 20s, was in custody.

The suspect allegedly told the family friend he had strangled his wife and young daughter, a press release from the department states. The woman contacted police at 11:30 a.m. and told them that the man was leaving her home.

Police later arrested the man in his vehicle near Spokane Street and Poleline Avenue. His name had not been released as of Tuesday night.

When detectives entered Unit 211 of Building B at the apartment complex, with a pink tricycle and princess-themed playset on the patio, they discovered the two bodies and then left the scene.

"We won't know for sure what happened until the scene is processed," Haug told The Press Tuesday afternoon. "We are still waiting on search warrants for the apartment and the car the suspect was arrested in. With a case like this it makes sense to cross all the t's and dot the i's. You don't want to have anything go awry."

Haug added that there were noticeable signs of trauma on both of the bodies and a "young couple" had been living in the apartment.

Next of kin had not been notified of the deaths on Tuesday afternoon and Haug said his department would release the names of the victims as soon as they become available.
