Teen drowning victim identified

POST FALLS — A Spokane 17-year-old male drowned in the Spokane River at Post Falls late Thursday night.

The victim was identified this morning as Trey D. Daley.

At 10:16 p.m., Post Falls Police, the KCSO and Kootenai Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the area of Black Bay on the Spokane River to a reported drowning.

The reporting party advised several teenagers were swimming in the river and advised one of them called out that he could not swim any more. The victim was observed slipping beneath the water and did not come back up.

Divers from KCSO arrived on scene and quickly located Daley about 100 feet from shore and under 10 feet of water.

Resuscitation efforts were started immediately by medical personnel on scene. Daley was then transported to Kootenai Health and later pronounced deceased.

An investigation continues.
