President has not been a problem

So, the pundits and pawns (those who would tell us how to live and think) continue with the same hate and fear buzzwords. Words like freedoms, rights, oppressive dictator, redistribution of wealth — geez, that’s enough to make you hate your mother.

The reality is that very little of this Fox News/Rush Rhetoric ever has any basis or fact to back it up. A recent writer referred to those who don’t buy his B.S. as “comfortably dumb.”

Since nearly all of this silliness is directed at the president and, as one who is “comfortably intelligent” (and one who faithfully listened to Rush years ago when I guess I must have been “comfortably dumb”), I would appreciate a fact or two or an example when these blind followers accuse him of all these horrific acts.

Take freedoms/ rights for example. I would like to know just what freedoms or rights President Obama has taken from us in his five years of presidency. Take dictator as another example. Let’s hear some examples of his “dictatorship” (I remember another president of Republican persuasion who said he was “the decider”). What about “redistribution of wealth”? Got news for you blind followers: It ain’t working! A recent report stated that, in 2010 90 percent of the income gains were by the top 1 percent (like the Koch brothers).

I would agree that our country faces problems (as always), but it is only exacerbated by a partisan group of elected representatives who blame everything on the president and have nothing to offer, except to tell us how we should think and conduct our lives. So, let’s stop the nonsense. You have a problem with the president, let’s have an example or two about just what he has done and just how it is affecting us, and maybe, just maybe, offer a solution or two if you have time to think for yourselves.

I would like to blame the president for a few things — the Dow Jones topped 17,000 (coming out of the pre-Obama dumpster of under 7,000. Fifty-two straight months of job growth and 9 million jobs (after coming out of the pre-Obama era of 7 million jobs lost). Hundreds of millions of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Montanans benefitting from the Affordable Care Act (not a job killer, not a killer of old people and babies, and the world hasn’t come to an end).

Just think of where we could be if we had a Congress that was working for the American people and the citizens of Montana instead of trying to “win” for the party?

One last blast against Fox News

I want to thank Jerry Molen for his (lengthy) letter of Aug. 24 and Robert Smith for his letter of August 22. You made my point about “Fox followers” — long on rhetoric and short on the truth!

Not a problem with Fox News, but with Fox followers

So, I will respond to Louis Wacker’s letter of July 27th about “Bashing Fox News.” I really don’t have a problem with Fox, since our Constitution affords us the right to free speech. My argument is that the “blind followers” repeat the falsehoods and hate rhetoric and present them as fact with never any substantiation.

Benghazi committee just latest aspect of GOP witch hunt

Speaking of “lies and obfuscation” (the editor’s words in his May 4 “two cents” column), when the editor states that “it’s about time,” I can’t help but wonder about time for what.
