Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe said there are no new leads on a report that a body was floating in the Kootenai River last weekend.

Bowe said the one report came from a group of people who viewed what they said looked like a body while they were on the river, just west of Troy, at about noon on July 5.

Bowe said the police were contacted 24 hours later and searched the area, but nothing was found.

The object in the water had been viewed with binoculars, Bowe said.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was in contact with the Bonners Ferry Sheriff’s Office regarding the report and Bowe said he would be notified if anything were to be found down river.
