POLSON — Mission Valley’s Bradley Pichler seemed to be a one-man wrecking crew in a 14-4 victory over the Kootenai Valley Rangers on Tuesday.
That’s not to say he didn’t have help, but the Mariner pitched a complete game, allowing just seven hits while striking out nine Rangers in the contest.
He was also the only player on either team to collect three hits, two of which were doubles, and an RBI in the game.
Despite scoring a run in each of the first three innings of play, Kootenai Valley couldn’t overcome two five-run innings by the Mariners.
Colton Henrie and Joe Schlarman had a hit and an RBI at the plate for teh Rangers. Teammate Nick Rackley added a double and an RBI. R.J. Glover was the only Ranger with a multi-hit game.
In the Mariner’s nine-man lineup, eight players drove in a run. Alex Killian, T.J. Olson, and Derek Peel joined Pichler with multiple hits, each earning two. Olson, like Pichler, had two doubles in the contest. Peel finished with a game-high two-RBI performance.
The Mariners responded to the Rangers first-inning run with two of their own in the bottom half before exploding for a five-run second inning. They were held scoreless in the third, but another five-run inning in the fourth put the game out of reach for Kootenai Valley.
