I totally agree with Larry Lauteret’s letter about the importance of electing both Zinke and Daines in November, especially Daines. 

As a former Republican who has learned the R’s are not totally above board, my problem is not giving in to a “what’s the use anyway” attitude and not voting at all. 

Outside of some exceptions, the current Dems tout an ideology I find totally reprehensible. They appeal to “morality” to keep expanding the entitlements, and they will support this by going to the Gospels, and telling us Jesus said to help the “less fortunate.” I agree, but Jesus meant out of one’s own pocket, not the pockets of others.

With that in view, it’s clear the liberal Dems have some ulterior ax to grind. So I do the research, and knowing that because of human greed, no political system devised by man will ever work perfectly, neither capitalistic nor socialistic, I decide to help out the have-nots personally, as best I can, and do everything I can to keep one more cent of my taxes out of the hands of greedy politicians. 

On the Republican side, I just don’t know what to think anymore. They claim to stand up for my economic beliefs, but they for some reason have shown themselves to be either totally inept, or possibly just in cahoots with big government. 

So to conclude, I myself will vote for both Zinke and Daines, but only if I vote at all, and that’s the point of this letter. 

Those of you who generally agree with me on the partisan ideologies, but have decided either to switch to the Libertarians or just not vote, might reconsider. I agree there are some issues within the Republican Party, but with the current president, taking the Senate away from the control of the liberal Dems and Harry Reid is my single-minded purpose. 

The U.S. Constitution was written to keep control of the United States in the hands of the working people, not the Washington politicians, and definitely not in the hands of labor unions either. Union is just another word for corporation anymore. —Eric Knutson, Dayton
