COEUR d'ALENE - A 34-year-old Rathdrum man pleaded guilty Friday to two misdemeanor charges stemming from a February incident where he carried a concealed weapon onto the campus at North Idaho College without a permit.

Michael Rustin Dan appeared before Judge James Stow in Kootenai County District Court, where he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and possession of drug paraphernalia. The guilty plea was given in exchange for the state dropping a probation violation in connection with the case.

On Feb. 10, a witness contacted college administrators and told them he thought Dan would come to class with a gun. Police were contacted and able to take Dan into custody without incident.

Police also found paraphernalia commonly used for methamphetamine when they searched Dan.

A sentencing hearing in the case has not yet been scheduled.
