Authorities are still searching for a Polson man who disappeared while kayaking on Flathead Lake on Saturday.

Robert W. McDonald, 43, was reported missing around 11:15 p.m. Saturday night when he hadn’t arrived back at shore.

Search-and-rescue boats, aided by two helicopters, searched the lake until about 3:30 a.m. Sunday and then resumed the search after sunrise.

The water surface and shoreline searches were called off at around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Specialized sonar units will be used this morning to search underwater.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is assisting Lake County officials in the search, which will begin at 9 a.m. today.
