'As Good as It Gets,' Kalispell style

A man called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office from a location on East Oregon Street stating he was having a panic attack following a dispute with his neighbors. According to the man, he was working out in his yard and a neighbor repeatedly came over asking him to mow her lawn. He told dispatch, “he keeps trying to be nice to her but today he had to yell at her because he can’t do it.”
A woman called from Vonderheide Lane on Monday ro report a phone scam. She said that she received a message from someone claiming to be an officer with the IRS and “he was sending a warrant out for her unless she paid.” When the woman called back, a “very foreign male” answered and couldn’t give her any good information, but did offer some expletives.
An Arlee woman reported that someone stole her dog out of her front yard. She told Missoula and Lake County authorities, but finally contacted Flathead County when she saw the dog in a Facebook post saying it was found in Kalispell. When she contacted the person via Facebook, she was told the dog was taken to the shelter.
A man reportedly witnessed a drug deal Sunday on U.S. 2 East. He told police that “two young gals ran up to a man’s vehicle, the male got out of the vehicle, dug a small package out of the back seat, and the girls gave him money in exchange.”
Suspicious activity was reported from a business on U.S. 2 East when a customer purchased two 30-packs of beer, put it in a vehicle in the parking lot, and then got into a different vehicle. It appeared the people who took the beer were underage.
The Kalispell Police Department received a report Monday of a suspicious man lingering near a church on Summit Ridge Road. When officers arrived, they found out the man was simply using the location to access a Wi-Fi network.
A man reported that he applied for a job on Craigs-list and now the potential employer keeps harassing him over the phone.
One of two men fighting in an alley near First Avenue West North Monday was cited for assault with bodily fluids.
A man’s sweet tooth got him in trouble after he stole a package of honey buns from a Third Avenue East North business. He was cited and released.
A 12-year-old stirred up some trouble after visiting a house around midnight and was told by the reporting party to leave. Later that night, he reportedly put a picture of a handgun on Facebook with the caption “We have a gun, I was about it to aim it at him...” Both parties were counseled.
A woman called Whitefish Police claiming that she was missing $600-800 from her home on Scott Avenue. She stated that her daughter had friends over and she thought maybe one of them had stolen it.
A concerned citizen called to report a business that reportedly keeps copies of every customer’s credit card and driver’s license in an unsafe location. The reporting party also told police that at the end of the year, those files are taken to the owner’s private residence and stored in an attic.
Officers assisted a family from Virginia that was trying to contact their daughter, who is riding a bike cross-country. The girl’s father needed surgery and her family wanted to inform her. Police located the girl at a state park and passed along the message.
Columbia Falls Police heard about suspicious activity on Nucleus Avenue when a caller noticed a man circling a business. It turned out it was a couple of people searching for their lost dog.
A woman claimed that her ex had stolen all of the money out of her savings account.
A window was smashed out of a vehicle and a wallet was stolen from a location on Darlene Road.
A lawn mower was stolen from 10th Avenue West.
