Yep, kayakers were up 'creek' without paddle

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a report Tuesday from a father worried about his daughter and a friend being overdue from a kayaking trip on the North Fork Flathead River. It turned out that one of the kayakers broke a paddle, and the two were stuck upstream from their intended takeout. They got off the river and were eventually located.

A Steel Bridge Road resident reported that a mailbox got blown up.

A Hungry Horse man showed up at a clinic in Whitefish with a gunshot wound to his hand that was the result of an accidental discharge of a firearm.

A man showed up at the sheriff’s office to report the recent theft of a trailer that he had left alongside a county road in preparation for a job.

A man calling from Bowdish Road in Whitefish reported that a dog keeps attacking his chickens and his neighbor’s chickens. The owner of the dog was contacted and cited.

There was a report of a vehicle being stolen after a law firm left it at the jet center at Glacier Park International Airport. The vehicle has been missing for a few months.

A man reported the theft of a motorcycle, and he didn’t know it had been stolen until he spotted it near a motel in Martin City. The man took possession of the motorcycle and there are no suspects at this time.

A South Woodland Drive resident reported that his neighbor cut down a tree that was half on the reporting party’s property.

Someone was arrested at a Harmony Road residence, most likely for partner or family member assault, after a physical disturbance between a man and woman.

Early Wednesday, at about 1:30 a.m., a  woman calling from a residence on Montana 35 in Evergreen reported that an intoxicated man was trying to break down her door. The woman knew the man, who eventually left.

Kalispell Police got a report Tuesday from a Second Avenue East property owner who said he was cleaning up beer cans on a property when he discovered an intoxicated man wearing pajamas passed out in the grass. The man ended up being transported for medical care.

There was a report of vehicles and a home being struck with paint balls on Triple Creek Road.

An intoxicated man was passed out in a bathroom at a business on East Idaho Street. The man ended up getting arrested.

A Fifth Avenue West resident reported theft of tools.

A man got away with stealing a 24-pack of beer from a store on Third Avenue East North. Several hours later, another man got away with stealing a 30-pack of beer from the same store, but he was later located by an officer and cited for shoplifting.

Two vehicles were broken into on Seventh Avenue West and items were stolen.

A Honda generator was stolen from an RV in the Hutton Ranch Road area.

Whitefish Police got a report Tuesday about a window being smashed out of a vehicle and a purse being stolen on Edgewood Place.

A window on another vehicle was broken on Cedar Street. It was un-clear if anything was taken.

Items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Colorado Avenue.

Columbia Falls Police got a report Tuesday about a DVD player being stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Martha Road.

A man calling from Ninth Street West said his vehicle had been vandalized, and he suspected a neighbor did it.

A woman calling from Ninth Street West reported the theft of a cat trap.

Flathead Electric Cooperative reported that about 2,500 to 3,000 customers lost power Tuesday at about 6:15 p.m. in the area between Whitefish and Columbia Falls. The outage may have been the result of a lightning strike on a transmission line.
