DESERT AIRE - The annual Hot Desert Nights, sponsored and organized by the Mattawa-Desert Aire Lions Club, will be held here on Saturday, August 9.

There are some changes this year. The catered evening dinner in the park has been dropped. Chairman Bob Adler encourages those coming to the live music dance (4-10 p.m.) to bring their own food and drink.

The community celebration will kick off at 7:30 a.m. with the annual golf tournament. You may contact the pro shop at 932-4439 for information or to enter.

The always entertaining amateur drag races at the Desert Aire Airport will be held between 12-3 p.m. Adler, at 439-0250, is the contact person.

The car show, which is held in the park, will go from 4-7 p.m., but many of the cars will be there all day.
