I am writing this because I am concerned about the trash that is accumulating on the valley floor. Don’t people in this valley have any pride in how our surroundings look?

 If you do not believe there is a trash problem, take a drive on any road in the valley. Stay off your cellphone long enough to see what is around you.

Drive 93 North on the way to the dump... what an eyesore! Does this impress our neighbors to the north or the many tourists visiting our valley?

What happened to the litter laws? Does law enforcement write tickets for this anymore? The trash trucks hauling to the dump are as responsible as the general public. It brings a tear to the eye!

A few people will remember this. Years ago there was a man named Huz Jensen, football coach and teacher. He would take juevenile delinquents out every weekend to a different road or spot in the valley to pick up trash. I am sorry to say that if Huz could see the valley and roads he spent so much time on, he would roll over in his grave!

Why can’t the county get this going again? This is probably asking too much, but as the banner said going into Huz’s locker room: “Can’t was killed in the war of Try.”

Let’s make this valley clean again,a place to be proud of,and maybe once again we can call this valley the “Last Best Place.” —Rocky Williams, Kalispell
