On Aug. 2, businesses participating in One Day for Glacier will donate a portion of their profit to Glacier National Park.
The event will partner more than 150 businesses throughout the Flathead Valley with the Glacier National Park Conservancy, Glacier’s official philanthropic partner. Half of these businesses are based in Whitefish.
Some participating businesses will ask customers to round up purchases or donate an extra dollar, while some have donated a fixed amount. Others are matching customer donations.
“Glacier is our business,” said Ben Eisinger of Eisinger Automotive Group. “One Day for Glacier is our way to give a little bit back to the park that gives us so much.” Eisinger Motors and Eisinger Honda will donate $5 for every purchase over $50, as well as donate a leased vehicle to the Glacier National Park Conservancy.
Several youth groups plan to set up food or drink stands in downtown, and donate a portion of their proceeds to the cause.
One Day for Glacier will be celebrated in conjunction with Backpacker’s Ball, Glacier National Park Conservancy’s annual fundraising event. The ball is already sold out, and is expected to bring in over $100,000.
