Register early for American Indian flute workshop
Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 11 years, 4 months AGO
Troy Good Medicine De Roche will conduct a workshop on Native American flutes on Aug. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bigfork Museum of Art & History at 525 Electric Ave.
Beginners and experienced native-flute players are invited, and owning a flute is not necessary. The workshop will cover the basics of playing a Native American flute including scales, fingering and special techniques. How to care for your flute, what to look for when buying a flute and a bit of the history will also be discussed.
De Roche is an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Nation. Preserving tradition is an important part of Troy's life; expressing traditional values and the spiritual nature of Native American people through music is his goal. An in-demand performer at shows, festivals, workshops and exhibitions across the country, De Roche has carried the gift of his music worldwide.
He is recognized as one of the few authentic Native American flute makers; each of his flutes is a handcrafted piece of art.
Cost for the workshop is $30 with advance registration required. Class space is limited.
