Montana Shakespeare in the Parks will bring its production of “As You Like It” to Flathead Valley Community College at 6 p.m. on Aug. 5. 

The performance at FVCC will take place at 6 p.m. in the FVCC Arboretum located behind Blake Hall on the college’s Kalispell campus. Admission is free, and tickets are not required for entry into the show.

Kevin Asselin, who has been with Montana Shakespeare in the Parks in various roles for 12 years as actor, educator, fight choreographer and director, now heads the company as artistic director and will direct this year’s production of “As You Like It.” The play will be set in 1917 Butte during the tumultuous years of the Copper Kings and union conflicts.

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks brings professional productions at no cost to the public to communities throughout Montana, northern Wyoming, eastern Idaho, western North Dakota and eastern Washington. The company features 10 professional actors selected by national auditions who tour without technical assistance to bring live theatre to rural communities.  

This summer marks Montana Shakespeare in the Parks’ 42nd season involving a 10-week tour of 75 performances in 61 communities. 

Showgoers are encouraged to arrive prior to curtain time with chairs, blankets, a picnic supper, friends and family to enjoy the evening.

In the event of inclement weather, the show will be held in the FVCC Black Box Theatre inside the Arts and Technology Building on campus.
