WARDEN - Warden soccer standout BryLee Whitney will continue her soccer career in the Tri-Cities.

Whitney recently inked a letter of intent to play for Columbia Basin College after four years of exceptional soccer for the Cougars.

"She's one of those players that loves the sport and enjoys playing every time she gets a chance to get out and she does her best," head coach Don Edson. "She never wants to be outworked or have anybody put in more effort than what she does. Truthfully is one of those players that coaches love to have on their team."

During her four years at Warden, Whitney averaged 20 goals per season and was recognized as an All-League Midfielder.

After helping lead Warden to a 12-5 overall record in 2013 that included six- and five-match win streaks, Whitney was voted the All-League MVP in the SCAC.

Columbia Basin finished its 2013 season with a third place finish in the NWAACC East region and a 10-8-2 overall record.

The Hawks defeated Highline in the first round of the NWAACC Soccer Championships, 2-1, before falling to Edmonds in the quarterfinals, 3-0.

Columbia Basin will lose six sophomores.

"It sounds like their coach is planning on playing her in the midfield similar to what she did for me last year or the last couple years," Edson said. "So you'll be getting a box-to-box midfielder with a lot of energy and truthfully someone that I don't think has quite completely reached her full potential."

Whitney plans to study business and hopes to play Division I soccer in the future.

"I think that moving to that next level and playing on a team with players obviously that are at a higher than what she played with in high school," Edson said. "Being around players of that same caliber her true potentional's going to come out."
