Jail escapee with Kootenai County ties back in custody

The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Lewiston Police Department, has captured an Idaho Department of Correction inmate who escaped from the Adams County Jail last month.

At 12:41 a.m. on Tuesday, a Lewiston police officer and two Nez Perce County Sheriff’s deputies found Robert Michael Williston, 47, in the 200 block of West 22nd Street North in Lewiston. Williston was taken into custody without incident.

Williston escaped from the Adams County Jail on Saturday, May 24. On April 1, he was sentenced to eight to 12 years in prison for burglary and attempted strangulation in Kootenai County.

Williston now faces the possibility of new charges in connection with his escape.
