Spirit Lake man arrested for eluding

SPIRIT LAKE - A 61-year-old Spirit Lake man remained in the Kootenai County jail on Monday on a $35,000 bond for allegedly attempting to elude police.

According to Spirit Lake Police, an officer attempted to pull Michael R. Gourley over for allegedly speeding on Highway 54 on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Gourley allegedly eluded the officer as a chase went into the Spirit Lake East neighborhood.

Spirit Lake Police Chief Keith Hutcheson said Gourley crashed after failing to negotiate a corner and was arrested soon thereafter.

Gourley was charged with eluding, driving while suspended and felony probation violation. He has been booked into the Kootenai County jail 15 other times, for drug charges, driving without privileges and providing false information to police.
