• Cd'A technology director receives leadership award

Jean Bengfort, outgoing director of technology for the Coeur d'Alene School District, is the recipient of the Northwest Council for Computer Education's 2014 Eric Jensen Leadership Award.

The Eric Jensen Leadership Award is awarded to an outstanding individual who has provided leadership to the computer education council and its members.

"Jean demonstrates extraordinary commitment, leadership, and persistence in providing quality professional learning that reflects the spirit of past-president, Eric Jensen," states the council's announcement of the award.

Bengfort has been at the Coeur d'Alene School District since 2001, and is retiring this year.

The council noted that Bengfort is a strong advocate for incorporating technology into K-12 instruction.

She is also a Microsoft Innovative Educator Trainer and has more than 20 years of educational technology experience. Prior to moving to Idaho, Bengfort served as the technology director in Iowa, teaching and leading at the elementary level.

"Year after year, Jean has gone the extra mile for NCCE to ensure a high-quality program," said Heidi Rogers, the computer education council's director. "Personally, I would like to thank Jean for her service to our organization."
