Morrison and Smith Claim ERP victories

EPHRATA - Brad Morrison Swept the Jerry's Auto Supply Street Stocks Saturday night at Ephrata Raceway Park. After setting fast time and starting at the rear of the large field of cars, Morrison used the outside groove to work his way to the front.
The Moses Lake driver took the lead on lap number 7 of the 30 lap main event. Jim Bise and Zach Anderson, both of Moses Lake, finished second and third, respectively.
Brothers, Adam and Joe Smith, both of Moses Lake, battled wheel to wheel in the Pepsi Racing 360 Sprint Cars.
The sprinters ran without the wings, making for many close battles on the track. The Smith brothers diced their way to the front, with Adam taking the lead from hard charging Austin Weber on lap 10.
Weber and Joe Smith battled for the second position until Weber's stellar effort was cut short with just 4 laps remaining due to contact with another car.
On the restart, Adam Smith held off his brother Joe for the victory. Tom Beierman, Richard Black, and Rich Hill rounded out the top 5 finishing positions.
The Schaeffer Oil Mini-Stocks saw Ephrata's Derrick Kapalo take the lead on lap 5 in the A Division of the combined main event. Meanwhile, Chad McKinney was the first to take the checkered flag in the B Division.
The Ephrata Pioneer Muffler II V6 Supers and the Kim Janke State Farm Agent ran a combined main event. Newcomer, Jen Black started on the pole. Ethan Smith was the first to cross the finish line in the Janke Super Cars, while Anthony Johnson took first in the Pioneer Supers.
Next week, ERP will have motocross under the lights while the cars take a week off. Gates open at noon with racing set to start at 5:00 p.m.
