Ronald Ray Warnecke, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2014, while under the care of Hospice at the Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was always known to his family and friends as Ray.
Ray was born on November 17, 1939, to Ronald and Vilora Warnecke in Spokane, Wash. He attended Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane. After the passing of his father in 1957, Ray took over the family business, Ray's Home Furnishings and Auction House, at a very young age.
On February 24, 1962, Ray married Betty Carbaughin in Spokane. Ray, Betty and their two young sons moved to Powderhorn Bay on Coeur d'Alene Lake after selling the family business. He held jobs selling automobiles, advertising, and business supplies in the Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, area. Ray also owned One Shot Charlie's in Harrison in the late 70's, and was involved in community events such as the Old Time Picnic. He later moved to Dalton Gardens, Idaho, where he resided until his death.
To Ray, no one was a stranger for long. He often made friends with people on their first acquaintance.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Vilora. He is survived by his two sons: Ronald Warnecke, Jr. (Susan) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Timothy Warnecke (Karen) of Avondale, Idaho; and two grandchildren: MaryAnn Warnecke and Joseph Warnecke, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 14, at St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Ray will be laid to rest privately by his family, joining his parents at the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Spokane, Wash.
