Coeur d'Alene's second Jack In The Box eatery should open this week on the west central side of the new Crossroads (Winco) commercial plaza bound by Appleway, Ramsey Road and Marie Avenue. The other local Jack In The Box is at Ironwood/Government Way.

Open 24 hours daily, the 3,030-square-foot, fast-food place seats about 40 customers at tables and booths and offers a drive-through. Key people are manager Robert Boullion and John Hill of Radix Construction.

Jack In The Box has more than 2,200 sites in 21 states with its headquarters in San Diego. Its Feast Foods parent also owns Qdoba Mexican Grills. Check jackinthebox.com. Phone 666-6068.

Supercuts also opens in Crossroads

Free haircuts are available this week as Supercuts also opens in Crossroads. The second Coeur d'Alene store (the other is also on Ironwood) services include haircuts, color, waxing, styling and shampoos in its massage chairs.

With seven licensed cosmetologists and help from the Ironwood store, hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday the first week. Afterward, hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 to 5 Sundays on a no-appointment basis.

The 30-year-old company has about 2,400 outlets. Check www.supercuts.com. Phone 664-1881.

Mario's Mexican in Bayview

All three meals and a great view of Lake Pend Oreille are offered at Mario's Mexican Restaurant, which opened last week at 34171 N. Main Marrietta Road in Bayview.

The extensive menu includes at least seven salsas, Mexican, American and "crossover" breakfasts, several Mexican appetizers and "Mario's Favorites" of enchiladas, tacos, chile relleno, burritos, chimichangas, chile verde, tamales, lobster and steak, tilapia, burgers, sandwiches, soups and several desserts, including deep-fried ice cream (vanilla ice cream rolled in a coating and deep fried and then topped with chocolate syrup and whipped cream). Whew.

Mario himself often visits the guests and is helped by his wife Graciela and daughters Sofia and Stephanie. They also have Mario's Mexican Restaurant in Bonners Ferry.

Bayview hours are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekends. Phone 683-1002.

Now for several Tidbits

- Details will be forthcoming as Northwest Music Center prepares its new location at 3700 N. Government Way. A clearance sale will be through June at the original store at 4055 N. Government Way. Phone 667-6200.

- Also watch for details on Fortus Realty replacing a house in the northwest corner of Harrison and Third, Elder Automotive moving across the street on Dalton Avenue, Buffalo Wild Wings building on the north end of the Super Supplements mini-mall and the Dog House Tap Room opening at 110 N. Fourth St..

- The word "graduated" needs to be followed by the preposition "from" so it's "He graduated from North Idaho College."

- And avoid two consecutive prepositions. Say/write "about" rather than "at about."

- "Future plans" is redundant.

- A bottle-top label instruction on a U.K. flavored milk drink: "After opening, keep upright."

- The guy who fell into an upholstery machine is fully recovered.
