COEUR d'ALENE - Local police and firefighters will clash Saturday night.
For charities, that is.
The second Guns vs. Hoses benefit hockey game will be held at Frontier Ice Arena, 3525 W. Seltice Way, Cd'A. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the puck drops at 7:30.
"There's something for the entire family," said Troy Speziale, spokesman for Kootenai County Fire and Rescue Local 2856, which is organizing the event.
The event will benefit the Post Falls Food Bank, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Kootenai County Police and Fire Memorial Foundation and Post Falls football coach Jeff Hinz's battle with cancer.
Tickets are $5 with two cans of food or $7. Kids 12 and younger are admitted free.
"Frontier Ice Arena is donating the ice, referees and scorekeepers, so we'll have no overhead costs," Speziale said.
Hoses, the firefighter team, will include players from KCFR and Coeur d'Alene Fire. Guns, the law enforcement squad, will have players from Post Falls Police, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, Spokane Police and the Spokane Valley Sheriff's Office.
There will be raffles, a shoot-the-puck contest, silent auction and food and beverages available for purchase from Caruso's sandwich shop. Speziale said a portion - to be determined - of the food income will be donated to the charities as well.
The Wayne Gretzky Foundation is donating memorabilia for the silent auction on behalf of the Gretzky Hockey School that will be held at Frontier Ice Arena July 27-Aug. 1.
T-shirts will be sold at the event for $15, with proceeds benefiting KCFR's benevolent fund, which assists fire victims and others in need.
