MOSES LAKE - An unknown person led Moses Lake police on a high speed vehicle pursuit early Tuesday morning in a stolen vehicle, later crashing and running away.

About 12:30 a.m., an officer found a stolen 1963 Chevrolet Corvette in the Longview Tracks area. The classic car was stolen Sunday from a storage unit on Wheeler Road and Road L Northeast near Moses Lake.

An officer continued to follow the vehicle and did not initially attempt to stop the vehicle to allow responding officers to arrive. The unknown driver reportedly took off fast in the area of Road 4 Northeast and Dunn Street Northeast, according to police reports.

Officers turned on their lights and sirens and continued to go after the vehicle for about 15 minutes, later ending the pursuit near Road Q and Road 11 Northeast.

About 10 minutes later, police received a report the suspected vehicle crashed on Road T Northeast. Officers found the vehicle, but the driver ran away and was not found, according to police reports.

No suspects in the car theft and pursuit have been identified, according to Capt. Dave Sands. Anyone with information on the incidents are asked to contact the Moses Lake Police Department at 509-764-3887.
