BUTTE — Jurors deliberated for just over an hour before finding a 25-year-old Whitehall man guilty of deliberate homicide in the shooting death of a Butte man last August.
Jeffrey Bruce Lackman testified that he shot 46-year-old Mark Partelow in the face after Partelow attacked him. He said he fled because he was high on methamphetamines and because he thought police wouldn’t believe his story.
Juan Jose Romero, who pleaded guilty to helping Lackman hide the gun, testified Lackman was jumped by Partelow and his girlfriend. Prosecutors noted Lackman showed no sign of being injured in a fight.
