ANNIVERSARY

Donald and Kay Wilson

60th Anniversary

Donald and Kay Wilson, of Harrison, will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on June 19, 2014, with many of their family members in California.

Donald grew up in Pinehurst where he met and married Kay (Taylor) who lived in Page. They were high school sweethearts.

They have four children, three of whom were born in Kellogg.

Donald Jr., was born in 1955 and resides in Rathdrum with his wife Deanna. Patricia (Shaw), born in 1956 resides in Antelope, California, with her husband George. Jeffrey, born in 1959, resides in Wilton, California, with his wife, Lynn. The fourth child, Sabrina (Brannan), born in 1962, resides in Otis Orchards, Washington, with her husband, Mike. Donald and Kay have nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Donald and Kay moved to Sacramento in 1961. After 20 years of working for the Sacramento Bee Newspaper, Donald retired in 1992. In 1994, together they moved back to Idaho where they currently reside.

ENGAGEMENTS

Absec-Palm

Terry and Kate Absec are extremely pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Bridget Kathleen Absec, to Mr. Jordan David Palm, the son of David and Angela Palm, and Dustin and Chandra Sloan.

The couple will be married on Saturday, June 21, 2014, in Coeur d'Alene, on the six-year anniversary of their first date.

Congratulations, Bridget and Jordan.

Rucker-Stark

Jay and Paula Rucker, of Rathdrum, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Kari Marea Rucker to Kurtis Emmett Stark, son of Maurice "Moe" and Karen Stark of Boise.

Ms. Rucker is a graduate of Lakeland High School in 2009 and the University of Idaho in 2013 with a degree in advertising. Mr. Stark is a graduate of Capital High School in 2009 and the University of Idaho in 2013 with a degree in business management. The couple currently resides in Twin Falls working for Magic Valley Times-News and Lamb Weston of ConAgra, respectively. A summer 2015 wedding is planned.

MILESTONE BIRTHDAYS

Sy Thompson

90th Birthday

The family of Sy Thompson is hosting an open house celebration for his 90th birthday at Generations, 13400 North Meyer Road, Rathdrum, on Saturday, June 21, 2014, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

A longtime resident of this area, Sy is known as the one who started the Draft Horse section at the North Idaho Fair. His great love was working on his Draft Horse Calendar project! During the fair, he has been sitting in the same spot in the Draft Horse Barn for more than 40 years!

Sy and his wife, Avis, raised Arabian Horses, Polled Herefords and Percherons on their small farm in Post Falls where their children were active in 4-H and school sports.

Sy worked as an electrical draftsman at Kaiser Aluminum for many years but actually had a degree in agriculture from the University of Wisconsin. He went to school on the GI Bill after returning from serving in World War II.

Sy was also an active member of the Kootenai County Saddle Club, the Arabian Horse Club, The North Idaho Draft and Mule Association, and Christ the King Lutheran Church.

He and Avis are the parents of three grown children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Eunice Braaten

86th Birthday

As a birthday present to herself, for her 86th birthday on June 7, 2014, Eunice will add to her previous 100 (300 games) playing Nintendo Wii Bowling, 60 more 300 games for a total of 160 (300 games).

BIRTHS

Mason Lee Evans was born at 5:06 a.m. June 2, 2014, to Heather and Kasey Evans of Athol. He weighed 5 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Sister is Autumn Evans. Brother is Tanner Evans. Maternal grandparents are Jon Moffet, Sherri Hopkins and Dave Hopkins.

Piper Angela Manning was born at 1:06 p.m. June 5, 2014, to Karrie and Justin Manning of Coeur d'Alene. She weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces and was 19.75 inches long. Her brother is Nash Manning.
