One team, one dream
Nils Rosdahl | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 10 years, 7 months AGO
"One team, one dream" is the theme of the Crafted Tap House and Kitchen, which opened downtown this weekend at 523 E. Sherman Ave. The former auto specialty building was expanded from 2,200 square feet to about 3,000 with a large patio.
The menu offers nine gourmet appetizers, four salads and choices of 11 main dishes with burgers of hand-formed, half-pound patties from local Tim's Special-Cut Meats, shrimp, pork and chicken and served with shoestring fries, house greens or Caesar salad and/or options of sweet potato fries, garlic fries and a gluten-free bun. Of course, then, true to the name, you have 50 craft beers and several wines by the glass or bottle.
With 46 employees, key people are owner Rob Berger, general manager Chris Evans and executive chef Gabriel Cruz. The decor is industrial with a modern twist.
With seating for 70 people inside at tables and the bar, and outside for 100, hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Phone 292-4813. Check www.craftedtaphouse.com.
One Good Thread opens downtown
"Pretty, party and play," especially for younger girls, is the primary emphasis of the products at One Good Thread. The new store is in the space formerly occupied by the Papillon store downtown in the Plaza Shoppes.
It's essentially a girls' boutique (women too), although boys' clothes will be added in the fall. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 to 5 Sundays. The products have had a onegoodthread Facebook connection for more than four years.
CdA Chocolates moves downtown
Also in the Plaza Shoppes, Coeur d'Alene Chocolates has joined Mrs. Honeypeeps Sweet Shop in the northeast entry. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Phone 667-2732. Coeur d'Alene Chocolates also has a store at 3650 N. Government Way.
The Lucky Monkey Trading Co. will expand from 412 Sherman Ave. into the former CdA Chocolates space across the hall. Details later.
Keet Sweet School expanding
A traditional one-room red and white schoolhouse with an old-fashioned bell, American flag and French doors is under construction at Keet Sweet Preschool and Kindergarten at 1406 N. Third St.
The first day of kindergarten will be Sept. 8 with Amy Blaylock, teacher, and Meredith Mitchell, owner-teacher. Classes will be 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Art classes also will be offered. Enrollment is open for preschool and kindergarten. Phone 660-1109.
Now for the Tidbits
- A three-story office building is planned for the property next to Wendy's near the I-90/Highway 41 intersection.
- Watch for a new beverage place in what used to be Splash in the Plaza Shoppes.
- Auto Max with used cars is now at 2305 N. Fourth St.
- "Flier" is the preferred spelling for the aviator and the pamphlet. "Flyer" is a brand name.
- A cool thing in Seattle is the water taxi from near the ferry docks to West Seattle, landing at nice beaches and a food-beverage place. $2 for seniors!
- A bicycle can't stand alone. It is two-tired.
