The 17th annual Silver Valley Fuller Center Ride the Wall bike event starts at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Mission Inn in Cataldo.

Judith Blalack said this is a family event that spans approximately 13 miles along the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes.

"Everyone enjoys it because the scenery is so beautiful," Blalack said.

A barbecue following the event will be free to participants, with a $5 fee for anyone else. Blalack said people who want to take the course at a relaxed pace will start 15 minutes earlier than those who plan to take it at a race speed. This will allow all riders to finish closer to the same time for the barbecue.

Riders will be traveling from multiple states including Montana, Washington and Oregon. Blalack said most of the local participants usually wait to see what the weather will be like before attending the event. Luckily the forecast predicts this weekend to be around 80 degrees with sunny skies.

Registration will be the day of the event, starting at 4 p.m., and costs $35 per person. Checks should be made payable to the Silver Valley Fuller Center for Housing. All proceeds will go to the Fuller Center and the Rose Lake Quick Response Unit.
