HELENA – Trevor Paro of Hot Springs is only a freshman, but already he is excelling on the baseball diamond.
Paro is a member of the Mission Valley Mariners, starting at shortstop for the American Legion League baseball team.
Paro experienced a good deal of success this weekend, helping the Mariners to a third place finish at the Cloninger Classic Tournament in Helena.
Paro went 1 for 2 in the opening game of the tournament in the Mariners 3 to 1 defeat at the hands of the Laurel Dodgers.
The Hot Springs freshman recorded a single in his team’s 11 to 3 win over the Vauxhall Spurs on Saturday and drove in a run in the third-place game against Vauxhall on Sunday.
The Mariners won the game by a score of 15 to 6, to place third in the tournament.
Both games against Vauxhall were shortened to five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Mission Valley played against the Bitterroot Red Sox at home on Monday.
The final score was unavailable at the time of press.
