POINT: Increase handicapped parking

I saw the pictures in the Sunday Press of the Independence Point parking lot before and after to improve handicap access to the beach. Taking the parking lot, with the few handicap spaces it has, and turning it into grass does not improve handicap access.

The only place left to park will be in the garage on the other side of The Resort. They now have to come all that extra distance to get to the beach. A better idea would be to redo the parking lot giving it more handicapped parking so they are right there at the beach and the lake.

I admit the grass looks prettier than the asphalt in the lot, but that doesn’t help the problem.
