Man recovered from river drowned

MISSOULA (AP) — The Missoula County coroner’s office says a man whose body was recovered from a sport utility vehicle in the Clark Fork River last week died of accidental drowning. Rescue workers pulled 71-year-old Melvin Beedle and his vehicle out of the river on June 11. Witnesses said they saw Beedle’s SUV go over the embankment.

The coroner’s office released Beedle’s cause of death on Wednesday.
