Record-setting rain fell Wednesday over the Flathead Valley.

Total rainfall was 1.16 inches, breaking the old precipitation mark for June 18 of .78 inches set in 1939.

That made it two record days in a row in the valley.

Tuesday’s 1.74 inches also established a new maximum rainfall amount for June 17.

The 2.9 inches of rain that fell Tuesday and Wednesday brought total rainfall this month to 4.48 inches as measured at Glacier Park International Airport.

Including more rain early Thursday, this week’s storm dumped a total of 3.3 inches of precipitation on the Kalispell area.

So far this year, the Flathead Valley has received 12.13 inches of precipitation — 3.9 inches above normal.

The low-pressure system that brought low temperatures and heavy rain finally departed Northwest Montana on Thursday, giving way to warmer and drier weather.

The high temperature today is forecast to reach 80 degrees and there is a 20-percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
