GREAT FALLS — A plethora of area travel softball teams traveled to Great Falls over the weekend to compete in the 18th Electric City Heat Classic.

The 16U Montana Avalanche Hermes fared the best, finishing third in the silver bracket in the tournament.

The 16U Montana Avalanche Earl, featuring Ronan’s Carston Rhine and Kaitlyn Sassaman, were a solid 2-1 in pool play before losing out in the bracket rounds.

The 14U Ronan Maidens were winless at the tournament.

In 12U action, the MOntana Avalanche Butler were undefeated in pool play before losing in their first bracket-play game.

Danielle Jeanette Wood pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide during a video arraignment Tuesday before Lake County District Court Judge Deborah “Kim” Christopher at the Sanders County Courthouse in Thompson Falls. Wood is charged with deliberate homicide in connection with the death of Thompson Falls resident Matthew LaFriniere in May 2018.
