The Flathead County Commissioners approved a rental cabin project on Old Highway 2 East about 1.5 miles south of West Glacier with little discussion during their meeting on June 12.

Lindsey Bengtson, of West Glacier, plans to remove the existing residence at the 10-acre property and build three 20-by-30-foot three-bedroom and two 20-by-18-foot two-bedroom cabins that would be rented individually.

Rental units are permitted in the Middle Canyon portion of the Canyon Area Land Use Regulatory System.

The project was approved with the same 13 conditions passed on by the Flathead County Planning Board at their May 14 meeting.

They deal with water, sewage and stormwater drainage systems, signs, utilities, landscaping and parking.
