SANDPOINT — A skier accused of slashing scores of the Schweitzer Mountain Resort’s chair lift covers has lost his legal counsel.

Coeur d’Alene attorney Frederick Loats requested to step down as David Donald Markwardt’s attorney because he an impasse in their attorney-client relationship has made it impossible to continue to effectively represent him.

Loats told 1st District Court Judge Barbara Buchanan on Monday that Markwardt is disregarding his advice and the two disagree on what needs to be done to defend the suit filed by Schweitzer Mountain Resort, court documents show.
